2013 Emmy Predictions and Hopefuls: Best Actress (Drama)

WHO I THINK WILL GET AN EMMY NOMINATION:

- Claire Danes (Homeland)
- Connie Britton (Nashville)
- Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men)
- Keri Russell (The Americans)
- Julianna Marguiles (The Good Wife)
- Vera Farmiga (The Bates Motel)

COLD HARD LOCKS: Danes, Moss, Marguiles

PRETTY GOOD EDUCATED GUESS: Farmiga, Britton (Emmy loves Ms. Coach and everyone seems to enjoy Nashville)

WHAT I'M PROBABLY WRONG ABOUT: Not choosing anyone from Downton Abbey

Not choosing any male lead from Downton Abbey is a risk, but one that's probably justifiable. Not choosing any female lead from Downton Abbey is just downright insane. I know that Downton Abbey's target demographic are also the ones that choose the nominations, but with strong new suitors like Farmiga and Russell, and Britton being a previous Emmy darling, I don't know where a nomination comes into play. I probably should choose someone form the show over Keri Russell, but I can't do it in my heart of hearts.

WHO I THINK THE NOMINEES SHOULD BE:

- Claire Danes (Homeland)
- Elizabeth Moss (Mad Men)
- Keri Russell (The Americans)
- Robin Wright (House of Cards)

OBVIOUS "SNUB": Robin Wright

I guess it's kind of difficult for me to beat my chest claiming there's a snub when I don't watch enough dramas with female leads, nevertheless good female leads, but here I go anyway. Robin Wright is so damn good, but the problem is that her character is so freaking unlikeable, that she won't get nominated. She gives a damn good performance though and deserves every bit of praise that Kevin Spacey (spoiler!) will get.

Do you think there was a better lead female performance than Claire Danes this year?
